I’ve been here for a short time, but my impression is that is much easier to get engagement on nostr than trad social media. It might be because I share interests with the majority here, I don’t know. All I know is that this looks very much alive
Exchanging Pure Human Empathy is rewarded. Before Money there was Barter, obviously that was mainly before Money but it was also many thousands of years before people had numerousy. Imagine trying to exchange things without Money and more importantly without any concept of numbers. The real exchange is very hard to imagine as part of a Human Construct. If you try and forget maths and Money too, which is very hard to do, you will realise that the exchange is the pure human empathy of all parties. Money has never been able to perfectly rate that exchange. Bitcoin gets very close to perfectly rating that exchange. Nostr is trying to exchange the same Pure Human Empathy, but without the security and protection of the Bitcoin protocol. This is not a criticism, it's an observation of the process of evolution, well that's my intention and what's in my mind as I type this. The power to say and exchange what you want, is only a power in the long term if you do good. The exchange of pure human empathy by, close to, immutable truth, is a power for good. I doubt whether you can abuse IT, but the power is in you, why would you try. Peace ❤
To be honest, that graphic is what X is like now, even with algorithms. Engagement and energy is just way down from the old days. And all the fake accounts don't help any. Even a censored place like Bluesky has more energy these days, go see for yourself. But you're right that if you want engagement on Nostr you'll have to try harder than I have so far. But that's ok. Right now it works the way it should -- I get to see the content I want to see, chronologically displayed, not what the algorithm deigns to show me. Completely uncensored chronological feed = underrated Quality of content/discussion is far more important than quantity of followers. This is not X and shouldn't try to be.
