I am no expert, but I find it weird if somebody after reading a whitepaper titled “Bitcoin: Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System” comes to the conclusion that Bitcoin must be only hodled. That is not the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about peer-to-peer cash.
It’s your money, do whatever you want with it. Hold, spend, I don’t care. Just annoys me when some try to guilt people into thinking by not spending they aren’t using

I’m not one of those people! I say don’t sell ALL of your Bitcoin. If you buy it on something that you absolutely NEED, why the heck not? I will never feel bad about buying shelter or knowledge.
Nor should you. I imagine the point is that as a Free Market community, we are coming together to find ways to expand our transacting to strengthen and secure the protocol. My intention is to find someone who wants Bitcoin in exchange for their investment property. And an independent grocer who accepts Bitcoin. And so on and so on until all my daily needs can be met by trading my Bitcoin for the goods and services I need. And until I earn in Bitcoin, I’ll keep swapping my fiat over to cover what I spend. Win win 🥇

And I can't understand that. They compare bitcoin to gold and think they will only use it to store value. They will take loan and spend fiat. That may work in the short term, but if we all do it that way, then fiat wins. The ultimate goal is for fiat to disappear, so we need to use Bitcoin constantly.
You have to accept both usages of Bitcoin :
- yes, it is a money for everyday transactions
- and also yes, it is a store of value, actually the best humanity ever had, better than gold.
Some people will use it as money only, or store of value only, and others will use it in both ways.
If Bitcoin is not a good store of value, it’s not a good medium of exchange. If it’s only a store of value, it’s not money. If Bitcoin is not money, it fails in the long run even more than gold did, because scarcity is not why Bitcoin has value in the first place.
Yes, scarcity is just one of the properties of Bitcoin.

This is a scarcity mindset, which shouldn't be conflated with Bitcoin's scarcity. I know I produce more than I consume, so spending Bitcoin isn't a concern for me. I have savings and it increases over time, whether I spend or not. I figure the bulk of these people are leveraged to the hilt, have a small stack, or produce little economic value. That's generally consistent with those who have a scarcity mindset. There are exceptions, but they aren't the ones telling me how to use my money.
