Gen z are in their 20s now. Gen z are the ones who make the videos, it's the kids watching who's brains aren't developed enough to handle it that are suffering. And I've noticed a lot of older people like over 55s who shouldn't be old enough to be going into cognitive decline yet but seem to be effected almost the exact same was that young children are by these apps
My friend sits his 3yo kid in front of an ipad all day, says he’s addicted. I asked him to consider changing the world for the better by doing less of that. His response: “no way, you do you, I’ll do me—my kid watches math shows and can multiply already”. What warped priorities.

Instagram and Snapchat by far have the worst short video content. Instagram is just thirst traps and car crash dashcam footage. Snapchat is mostly onlyfans models trying to sell their onlyfans, and drunk teenage boys riding motorbikes doing dangerous shit that younger boys will guaranteed copy from them. Tiktok used to be good if you wanted educational content or arts crafts etc. but it changed. Tiktok shorts used to be the worst for brain rot now it's kinda become good for educational content (a lot of the good creators from tiktok left and went to YouTube after the tiktok algorithms got changed)but you gotta be careful if you let one stupid video play all the way through it ruins your algorithms and just feeds you retarded shit like the rest of them. Xiǎohóngshū is wholesome and educational, no more censored than the western apps just slightly different type of censorship. Pretty much no toxic behaviour, be polite don't lie don't promote drugs or degeneracy etc. It's the only one that with careful parental oversight children might actually benefit from. The algorithms on the rest are just too hard to control and always end up feeding you garbage.
