Completely agree. Going to need the equivalent of independent journalism but for social media. At present, nostr is the only conceivable option to make this a reality in my opinion. Super stoked about nostr and virtually no one around me even recognizes the issue with mainstream social media platforms yet
I’ve never heard of Farcaster, but I’m all in on Nostr because it’s got a solid community and values that align with what I care about. If you’re looking for something with strong principles and a growing movement, Nostr is a great place to contribute. It’s fine to try new things. If you do try it let me know I would love to hear about your experience.
I think I read more than I talk.. on all platforms.. probably .5% It’s really perspective and the view you are looking at it.. I need information in my line of work.. I love seeing innovation and political ideas Otherwise I’d be in a box and someone else making my decisions for me.. Yes I hate the same negativity regarding politics.. that’s the part that needs changing
Interesting point! I’ve noticed that too, with platforms pushing certain narratives and ads more and more. I guess the big question is whether new alternatives like nostr will rise up and break that pattern. Maybe nostr will become everything people want and need. Who knows.
New(s) Media, new news media to replace the legacy media with updated business models. Cooperate efforts of professional journalists, who report both sides of an issue, unbiased and impartially, allowing the user to make up their own minds. New business models, such as those built with Nostr, allows news media to report with integrity, eclipsing out the desperate practices of the last twenty years, as traditional organizations struggled to adapted to the digital age, and were diminished by advertorials, unethical hackers and other bad actors.
Everything will always have a social aspect.. doesn’t matter what.. I think it depends on what country and what values they have Chinese values are completely different than Americas.. some will be underground like Brazil, etc. I think we will see a greater divide, especially as technology grows
