Nostr is only less engaging if you pay Twitter's extortion fee. I don't, and I get almost zero engagement on Twitter.

But this wouldn’t last when (or if) Nostr goes mainstream

Hmm. It is less engaging (true), and thus you log in less often - and will miss a lot of posts, potentially some of the (few) really interesting ones. I would love a For You algo feed on Nostr, then i can literally just check every few days and check what I missed

This is a good reply to someone's recent question about the Daily Nostr User egagement (or something like that), here people check out few posts then go back to their work, trying to be useful, while the twitter power users work is often just being there trying to get others addicted

This really is true. Nostr is just engaging enough, but like nutritious food, you can put it down before you feel sick. Advertising-driven revenue begets algorithms which are designed to hook you. I think this is what I failed to realize at first about nostr... I was expecting to experience a similar "attention grab" like Twitter, but it's just not there. Refreshing!
