as more zaps come in i start shouting: FOOLISH! into the microphone i throw my cape off my shoulders in a flourish as the QR code morphs into Big Brother's face and then fades text appears on the screen oh no is this a powerpoint? i say: never scan a public qr code. scammers can place malicious codes to redirect you to fake websites for phishing (stealing info) or to download malware a few people in the audience start to groan for they know what is coming and what they are in for for 'tis i, sΓso and every zapper failed the security test View quoted note β†’
I mean, I just did a lightning payment to you. Its easy, cheap and reliable. People are afraid of paying in BTC because of fees and the whole "store of value" narrative (to which I still would respond: "spend and replace")... But where is the ecosystem not ready for it? I think many people would (or should?) join a lightning festival to connect, listen, teach and ofc buy goods and services.
Maybe I'm wrong, but if I remember correctly even the biggest conferences like Nashville in 24 didn't even have any merchants accepting bitcoin. I remember people being pissed off about it. Would love to be proven wrong and would love to see it. But you would also need to find a place with high enough density of merchants and producers willing to accept sats and also enough musicians and technicians to put on a festival and do all the zapping V4V stuff properly. It will happen at some point though, no doubt
I can't compare to the conferences but I've read the same about not being able to buy with BTC. It just needs to be the unit of account for at least bitcoiners (imho). On the other point, you're absolutely right, too. I often forget that there are still people out there who do not think that Bitcoin is a good idea.. However, idk in these places like bitcoonbeach, bitcoinjungle or bitcoinisland and so on, it SHOULD be possible. I mean in my childhood I bought "local market coupons" which I could only use on this one market for food or rides.. It should be possible to do the same again, but with Bitcoin lightning. One would only need a critical mass of merchants and musicians and so on (security and background organization doesnt need to be). That would mean around 30 - 40 bitcoiners should be easily enough to create an experience people (nocoiners) would like to participate in, I guess. They would buy sats on the entrance and getting orangepilled on the exit. I mean, I am good at cutting speeches to other peoples beats (at least I think so), can cook various tasty and healthy stuff and am good at story telling... So with you, we are two!
For a while all flagship bitcoin conferences have had lightning payments for food and other activations like @Chain Duel, official merch store, and bazaar vendors. In Vegas we even broke a Guinness world record for most transactions in a day, thanks to the relentless efforts of @UNCLE ROCKSTAR. We’re ready and we’re going to make all guests ready too ✊⚑️
All I'm saying is to do a full blown music festival with all the suppliers, staff people involved etc running on bitcoin only and inviting no coiners who will be given sats on entry is a few years off at least. The conferences are awesome but it only attracts people who are already bitcoiners. It would be great to see a cultural event (which would attract non bitcoiners) which would just happen to use bitcoin & nostr for everything. Then no-coiners could see it work in action. I think the zapping of an artist on stage is the most compelling thing for non bitcoiners as that can't be achieved with credit cards unlike regular merchant payments
I absolutely think, this is the way, a cultural event where the "event currency" is btc-lightning. It definitely shpuldnt be labeled as Bitcoin event because it would deter nocoiners. Then have some people nocoiners can relate to casually hanging around (like Natalie Brunell or Jack Mallers) and just chat with people.. Not sure if it would be a lightning event or an enlightenment event, if you catch my drift.
Its literally what we are doing... TONIGHT All of it and MORE... Automatic splits baked in via TheSplitKit so its transparent to the sender, who gets what, from the onset. No mystery where the value is going. Zaps/boosts are tied to IRL triggers. Certain boost amounts will cause certain events to happen on stage! Leaderboards and gamified competition. Boost/zap your way to the top! How to watch? Go to boostbeach.live at 7pm CT. Catch the music video pre-show by Homegrown Hits the hour before on any PC2.0 compatible apps (like fountain or v4vmusic.com )
Tune in tonight for some instant gratification. Tonight is a tech showcase. Not our first, wont be the last. Not only is all that you describe happening TONIGHT but interactive elements have been placed across the stage. YOUR zaps (depending on the amount) can also trigger certain effects live on stage. @boo-bury has put on several shows like this over the years and those recorded concerts exist too. The Satellite Spotlight featured 4 different bands and multiple MCs, in a single, zap-interactive concert, all streaming from separate locations across the world.
