Drop Site’s Middle East editor, @Sharif Kouddous شريف عبد القدوس, worked closely with Palestinian journalist and Drop Site colleague @npub16z8v...akuh, who was murdered by the Israeli army in a targeted strike on his vehicle yesterday in northern Gaza. NEW: Rasha Abou Jalal (@Rashaaboujalal1) is a Palestinian journalist and mother in Gaza City. In her latest dispatch for @Drop Site, she recounts a night of terror as Israel went on to kill more than 400 across the enclave. Her report begins: “I woke up at 3 a.m. on March 18th to the sound of a massive explosion above my head, shattering the silence of the night. For a moment, I felt like I had died. I lifted my head from the pillow, still unaware of what was happening around me. The air was filled with grey dust. Suddenly, the screams of my five children pierced my ears. I couldn’t tell whether we were alive or dead and buried under the rubble. I rushed to hold them. More explosions followed—Israeli airstrikes pounded Gaza relentlessly and without warning last night. ‘Mama! Are we going to die?’ my terrified 12-year-old daughter, Saida, asked me, her body trembling with fear.” The full dispatch is shared at the link shared below. image
“I saw barefoot children, starving, scavenging grains of rice from the ground—picking them out of the dirt, dividing them among themselves, and eating them, sand and all. I saw young girls in the prime of their youth pushing through the crowd, tears in their eyes, begging for just one meal. I saw grown men standing in line, their eyes fixed on the ground, ashamed of their height, their strength, ashamed that they now had to queue for the bare minimum to survive.”

“Does Our Code Kill Kids, Satya?” Five Microsoft employees were ejected from a company meeting after confronting CEO Satya Nadella over the company’s contracts with Israel’s military. They wore t-shirts reading, “Does Our Code Kill Kids, Satya?” Drop Site recently reported that the Israeli military is one of Microsoft’s top AI customers. An AP investigation also found Microsoft AI was used to select bombing targets in Gaza, where Israeli airstrikes leveled entire neighborhoods. “The demands are clear,” said Abdo Mohamed of No Azure for Apartheid. “Microsoft must drop its contracts with the Israeli military.” (Read the Drop Site investigation at the link in reply.)
“A minute of silence for each of the Bibas children would be appropriate, as would a minute of silence for each of the more than 18,000 Palestinian children murdered in Israel's devastation of Gaza. That silence would extend to over 300 hours." Daniel Levy, former Israeli peace negotiator, addressed the United Nations Security Council today. A video of his full remarks is below.

Sen. Mark Warner, at the Munich Security Conference, wants you to know the real story behind the TikTok ban—that Israel was the driving force behind its passage in Congress: “I want to see if you're going to tell the real story,” Warner said to former congressman Mike Gallagher, a Palantir executive who, alongside Warner, first introduced the bill labeling TikTok a national security threat. Gallagher responded: “The bill was still dead until October 7th. And people started to see a bunch of anti-Semitic content on the platform, and suddenly our bill had legs again.”
