Good kingdoms protect freedoms. Governments will always fill a power vacuum so it behooves us to build good ones.
People were more free when there were kingdoms

I agree, Jack, but we have to be realistic about human nature.
Intellect isnβt evenly distributed, and insurrection and incumbency are just two forces that exchange positions over the arc of history.
The smartest always find ways to create power structures that ultimately disadvantage the masses.
"Freedom" is one of those emotionally charged words used to rally the masses, much like warriors in battle.
Yet, in the end, all it does is pave the way for a new aristocracy to rise.
