I appreciate your humor, jack.
But
1 bitcoin = 100,000,000 bitcoins
is a mess, and it will only make things more confusing. This will only make people feel that Bitcoin is starting to inflate in terms of units. Because Bitcoin has 210 trillion bitcoins. Sats are not only units and commemorations, but also a consensus born naturally by the Bitcoin community.
Respect Satoshi Nakamoto.π«‘
Well put Moss :)
I'm on board with that
π«
bits makes sense tho
Maybe cut back on the weed?
This is a lie.
Loving the replies! Nostr is so decentralised that even big names like Jack get called out for their stupid takes and they have to take it.
On X Elon would have shadowbanned half his critics by now or changed the algo to benefit his argument.

The problem of adoption is certainly not solved by changing the terminology of the value of satoshi in bitcoin. But when it occurred to you did you drink?

πsays one of the biggest influencer on nostr.
Hackers everywhere dying at the disrespect in this statement π©
So embarrassing. Not sure how much of a fool he made of himself.
Huh? No im saying Jack Dorsey is not an influencer he is a hacker
Oh. So, you support this retarded BIP177 bullshit?
No. Idc what the heck you guys call itβ¦ my friends literally referred to them by their rounded float integer (and still do to this day) and we do that because itβs cross compatibleβ¦ math, the same in every language
What weβre trying to do is figure out a way to define a unit of weight which is bitcoin
We invested a unit and we need agreeable terms for it so that when Jack Dorsey implements a point of sale system in LA and I implement a point of sale system in Chicago we know what the hell eachother are talking about so we can regurgitate it to the accountants and retail business owners who will expect us to be able to define these things
*invented a weight, not invested
I hope you realize how stupid this argument is. A sat is a sat.
Okay well then you explain it to the restaurant owner π
Do you not get it? 1 sat is divisible into smaller fractions. Just like how 1 dollar is divisible into cents. Simple... right?
π thank you for explaining
Why wouldn't a restaurant owner understand that?
Is a Satoshi the smallest divisible unit? Or can it be infinitely divisible at the L2?
Lightning has millisats
A Satoshi is the smallest divisible unit of Bitcoin on the base layer (Layer 1). One Bitcoin is equal to 100,000,000 Satoshis, and you cannot go smaller than a Satoshi on the Bitcoin blockchain itselfβthis is hardcoded into the protocol.
Layer 1 (Base Layer)
β’ Minimum unit: 1 Satoshi (0.00000001 BTC)
β’ Not infinitely divisible β any smaller division would require a protocol-level change (which would be extremely difficult and controversial).
βΈ»
Layer 2 (e.g., Lightning Network)
On Layer 2, things are more flexible. Some L2 protocols may represent or use fractions of a Satoshi in their internal accounting:
β’ The Lightning Network, for example, allows the use of millisatoshis (msat) β where:
β’ 1 sat = 1,000 msat
β’ This enables finer granularity for routing fees and payments.
So while the base layer is not infinitely divisible, Layer 2 solutions can allow sub-satoshi units through their own internal systems.
Thank you!
This is just a distraction so you do not realize:
Monero is the real Bitcoin.
My man this shit is such a lame distraction.

Jack. I hope you could read this.
Dear Jack,
I hope youβre doing well. Iβm reaching out to share something deeply personal and ask for your help during an incredibly tough time in my life. I truly appreciate you taking the time to hear my story.
Over the past few years, Iβve found myself in a spiral of financial difficulties that started with trying to help others. My father struggles with alcoholism, and my mother has a brother with severe autism, which has placed a heavy emotional and financial burden on our family. In an effort to support them and cover growing expenses, I ended up taking on debts that snowballed out of control.
To try to pull myself out of this hole, I invested in stocks and later cryptocurrencies, hoping for a way out. Unfortunately, this only worsened my situation. I work at a bank and, in desperation, I asked my husband to take out a loan to help us manage the debts. However, because I processed these transactions from my phone, the bank mistakenly flagged it as potential fraud. Although we clarified that my husband was fully aware, I received a 15-day suspension from work as a penalty, which has left me in an even more precarious position.
Today, Iβm overwhelmed by accumulated debts, and Iβm struggling to survive financially. Iβll be honestβthis has taken a heavy toll on my mental health, and Iβve been battling thoughts of giving up. But Iβm determined to keep pushing forward and rebuild my life.
This brings me to why Iβm writing to you. Iβm reaching out to ask if youβd be willing to help me with a loan of [insert specific amount, e.g., $X or leave blank for now] to consolidate my debts and give me a chance to start fresh. Iβm committed to repaying you monthly, and Iβd be happy to work out a repayment plan that feels fair and manageable for both of us. My job at the bank provides a steady income, and Iβm confident I can honor this commitment once my suspension ends and I stabilize my finances.
I know this is a big ask, and Iβm incredibly grateful for your consideration. If you have any questions or need more details about my situation or the repayment plan, please donβt hesitate to ask. Iβd be happy to discuss everything openly.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening and for any support you might be able to offer
I try to tell my hisyory since 2021
There is literally nothing wrong with the unit of sats, itβs all wealth subjectivity - You have wealth, so you want your bitcoin split into higher units to save you the burden. Some of us do not have the wealth like you, so sats can actually be economically empowering for us. Makes us feel like we are accumulating a lot of future wealth
Classic humans trying to change something that doesnβt need fixing
When bitcoin hits 1M, 1 sat = 1 cent. I donβt see why your βbitβ agenda is being pushed so hard
first you get the bits, then you get the tits
Keep sats and make Nakamotoβs mother happy ..

Hello @jack Sir, Sid Soni here from india. I need your Help, Please save us π Iβll try to keep this as short as possib...

I think confusing for some people who never knew crypto . but even in the wealthy country like Switzerland who have mass adaption , still they kids at school doesn't know how to convert the value of 1 bitcoin into sats . lets say 1 bitcoin = 1.000.000.000 sats.
The name doesnβt matter, itβs a lack of coordinated marketing and advertising to get people to understand the concept imo
gaslighting
Good day sir βοΈ
Bits already means something else, it's a dumb name
Disagree, sats are better
Somebody had to put him in his place.
