No, this is not good news for opensource projects or anyone using GitHub. Microsoft has a reputation for adding bloat and anti consumer features. Remember "Recall" in Windows and forcing features that nobody wants? Once they have full control over GitHub, they will degrade the entire GitHub ecosystem and experience to meet shareholder targets.
