We are no longer on the Google Play Store.
We decided remove our app rather than comply with their overly zealous bullshit KYC requirements that dox dev data, including address. ๐
But Nostriches don't care because we got @Zapstore โ

Ma ai Nostriches non gliene frega niente perchรฉ tanto noi abbiamo Zapstore โ"

Thank you so much for your work ๐งก
Yes! Some #fuckYouMoney attitude!
Are you there on the Apple Store?
Yes. Different dev and different KYC.
This is the way
So best thing is to point people to the website?
Yep, all our apps are linked from there.
F droid good as well
KYCโฆ.for who? Whos information do they want?
The dev who published the app.
Insanity
wiki.btcmap.org is down, and the current app version has still links to it.

Yes, we're migrating to self-hosted as GitHub rugged us (that's another story!)
Here now:

@Fountain, not asking you to go that far but at least get into something other than the Play Store, please.
They're in @Zapstore.
But they do not sign the release themselves.
Now, with multiple signing options it's easier than ever @Fountain
๐ zapstore-cli 0.2.0-rc1 released
Attention developers!
The biggest zapstore-cli release yet, with lots of improvements for publishing.
- Support for signing with nsec, NIP-07 in the CLI, NIP-46 bunkers, as well as sending unsigned events to stdout for use with nak or any other signer
- No longer depend on apktool (that annoyed so many Linux devs) or apksigner, no more shell calls
- Upload to configurable Blossom servers
- Simplified yet more powerful config file format
- Much smarter extracting metadata
- Overall way faster
Massive amount of work went into this. Finally releasing! But for that reason it's a release candidate, so please report bugs.
Upgrade now by running: zapstore install zapstore
Or get it at: https://zapstore.dev/download

So incredibly based. Love you guys
Ohhh goosebumps. You doing it right.
This is the way. Every Bitcoin/Nostr dev should follow this path.

Personally, I love this, but I worry that non-nerds will now never discover the joys of BTC Map, considering Google Play is the central place for most Andrioid users to find apps. I have similar concerns for Amber which also never made it to Google Play due to Google's invasive bullshit.
KYC is evil. Tough call.

Good!
Sidenote: I would update and remove the locations in Boracay. None here accept bitcoin anymore.
Absolutely none?
There was a clean-up dinner months ago.
I wouldn't say absolutely. I ahoulsve specified and said "none of the ones I've asked".
I've been here a few weeks, yet to find someone who accepts it.
OK, please verify as you go and we will remove.

I'll reach out to Pouch again too.
We need one front publisher for all the good apps. I'm in the same position. Would pay a fee for someone trustworthy to publish my app.
To the Google Play Store?
I will not give up on the people who didn't discover bitcoin or nostr yet. Evacuating the battle field now is premature.
@BTC Map don't chicken out..
That's fair
Awesome! ๐๐พ๐ค๐พ๐โก๏ธ
It's a catch 22. I'm in the same boat. In fact they forced closed my accounts and I'm still arguing with support.
The thing is the average person will go to the play Store as their trusted, vetted source. They trust Google. And when you deliver your APK in any other way, Android will throw up at 'install from unknown sources' warning which is an insane barrier to get people to use your application.
I honestly don't see anyway around this.
