I give an hour talk to our selective students on medical Informatics. I've added a bit on AI, but I don't give them with the whole "it's coming for your job before you finish residency" - but that is what I feel like saying. Instead, I always tell them that the informatics portion of their job will always be changing the fastest and to always embrace it instead of fighting it. The systems coming will not be like the ones from the past. I've watched them go from paper to EMR's to Epic and AI patient note summaries. I tell them that technology only accelerates. My Cleveland Clinic doc told me he tells his group of residents "you get dumber every year, but that's ok." He agreed to share my book with them every year, too. It was a bet. I said, "if I'm right will you share my book with all your future residents?" He agreed. I was right. Get people to read it. www.redactedscience.org
