At least I use linux, ok?
Genuinely found out about this 2 months ago, almost cried.
I was a Linux user for years before I found out 😆
After a while, you start relying on ctrl + R like a notepad 😛, also for the longest time after i got into linux i didnt know that by pressing control R multiple times you go back multiple instances of the search term 😂
Also handy in bashrc
*Unlimited history
'HISTSIZE=-1
HISTFILESIZE=-1'
*Update history immediately.
'shopt -s histappend'
*Ignore commands prefaced with space & remove duplicates
'HISTCONTROL=ignoreboth'
Wow so you can share the history across multiple sessions this way?
Yes, history from one will immediately be available in another this way 👍
I always thought you needed fish of zsh to do that. One day I will be a real Linux user!
Zero because if you don't know about that are you even a Linux user?
Also
```bash
cat ~/.bash_history | grep -i "string"
```
different Q
how do u increase scroll buffer in SCREEN session ?
#linuxstr
i know of it, just annoying i always am accidentally pressing it and mashing escape to stop it
That's me. I rarely access shell history myself though, or bash for that matter. I use fish shell with autocomplete and dialing arrow up, arrow down. All I need, almost every time.
what is special that i cannot get "history" ?
