Here you find photos (#holgersfotos) 📷, occasional rants 😠, and playful quips 🤪 from an exiled Swabian stranded in the Munich outback.
I would self-diagnose my photographic style as clean and geometric, often driven by symmetry, sometimes even minimalistic. I love strong contrasts from shooting into the light, the combination of vibrant warm and cool colors, and punchy black-and-white images. I shoot in RAW and edit my photos in Lightroom.
If this sounds appealing to you, check out my photographs on Mastodon: https://gallery.ho1ger.de/. I also blog about photography, travel, trips, and occasionally nerdy stuff at https://ho1ger.de.
You’ll also see me boosting great (or simply funny or whimsical) photos from other users — because that’s how good stuff spreads! I’ve stopped boosting content from users who only share and promote their own work and/or don’t interact with others.

)’s #MonochromeMarch idea and have a question for all of you:
How do you photograph in b/w with a digital camera that shoots color images?
No, I don’t mean that in a cynical or negative way at all; I’m genuinely interested in how people approach b/w photography with modern cameras!
To answer my own question: I do not go out to shoot b/w, and I do not set my camera to display a b/w image on the screen. For me, it is more like: “Hello scene, you’ll end up in a b/w edit when I process the RAW image” — click.
(This is, at least, how about 70% of the b/w pics I show are created. For the rest, honestly, b/w is used as a tool to resolve issues with dull colors, weird color casts, etc.)
