I guess I can show a screenshot of current roadmaps for 3.4 and 3.6. This contains projects by Americo Gobbo, @CmykStudent, Jacob Boerema, @npub1ehav...ze52, and us (Aryeom & Jehan @ZeMarmot :gimp:). We have not yet incorporated any project by Gabriele Barbero, Idriss Fekir and @barefootliam who will likely further improve text handling. And others… With our new policy of fast minor release, we ask everyone to focus on one big project only (they may add in small projects which would not block release).

With @GIMP 3.2 on the final stretch, today I spent quite some time preparing #GIMP 3.4 and 3.6 initial roadmaps 🗓️ with input of what other contributors want to work on (with the usual assumption that roadmaps are "fluid" and can change anytime; it's a tool for us to self-organize, not a promise to others). Organizing future works is always a nice feeling as we can see where we are going! 🎯

While #FOSDEM has not uploaded our keynote recording yet unfortunately (technical issues as our movie is CC by-sa and their recordings are usually CC by), we decided to upload the full recording of the movie screening + live music (cine-concert) at least for our patrons. Today I finally merged one of my 2013 patches for @GIMP! (with improvements of course) 😁 This is a new action to switch to last used tool (defaulting to Shift-X shortcut). As a side change, I also made so that once an effect has been validated (or canceled), the previously selected tool is activated again.

We are currently preparing a new stable release of @GIMP 3.0. A lot of work is being done in backstage by our developers, packagers, translators, testers… stay tuned! Also we remind that anyone can join the team of testers, if you want to help us finding issues, posting feedback and so on:

Update by Bruno (16/09/2025) We are aware and triaging this bug, which is likely a bug on Windows set_locale() function....

The bug is in Windows, but we may have a workaround (to be confirmed by testing) until Microsoft fixes their code.
