No, dude. “Iroquois”or Irocois was French trapper slang for the Haudenosaunee ( the actual name of the people we call the Iroquois ) and literally means “the people of the Iro” because they ended their sentences with a word that sounded like “Iro” which was something like a verbal period. Like Quebecois is “people of Quebec, Irocios or Iroquois was “people of Iro”. Dont always trust the “experts”.
