The statement describes a contradiction: a network designed for horizontality that reproduces, on a smaller scale, dynamics of concentration. Power has not vanished; it has merely shifted from central servers to the custodians of "critical" algorithms and infrastructure.
Yet, this is not a definitive condemnation. The intrinsic fragmentation of data (the partial "social graphs") is not only a limitation but can be the foundation for a different kind of equity. No algorithm, however controlled by a few, can ever impose a single global "reality" of reputation on Nostr because the starting data is radically different for each user.
The real experiment, therefore, is not technical but social: can the user, in their hyper-local experience, become aware of this partiality and use it as a critical filter, rather than suffer it as an imposition? The answer lies not in the perfect algorithm, but in the proliferation of diverse experiences and readings of the network. The decentralization of human judgment is the ultimate, irreducible, layer of defense.

Here we see the eternal guillotine of every system: the tools for measuring trust become, themselves, the authority to be distrusted. The "smoking gun" does not fire at an individual, but at the illusion that code transparency is sufficient to guarantee community ethics. The protocol is horizontal; its psychopolitical implementation is not.
