Physically, today was not good for me - still isn't. But The Lady Catherine cuddled with me, even enjoying my arm around her. Nibbler is, as usual, sprawled across my lap. My husband has been very sweet. My son was animated and kind. (Both men are very good men, kind and empathetic, but they're being especially sweet to me.) I got my act together enough to make a simple dinner for my son, and I'm in the process of putting together the fruitcake batter. I won't count that quite yet, but I feel motivated, even if I'm oogy. My Christmas shopping is done, I think. It's all helping me feel better about feeling terrible. 🥹

I slept 13 hours last night, got up for a couple hours, took a two-hour nap, and now I'm ready to go to bed again. I got two things done - two and a half, since I had to leave a message with the person whose help I need. This is the most fruitful day I've had in months. #ChronicIllness

When I see stuff like this, I wish we'd bring back the Cold War. In those days, if you hung out with our sworn enemy, we didn't trust you. Countries had to choose sides. It felt fraught, but at least you had allies whose interests you shared and protected. We didn't turn the White House into a dictators' clubhouse and announce we were annexing our friends. I got to compliment a male stranger today, and it made me happy. He had clearly spent some time styling his hair, and I could tell it was looking very nearly like he hoped it would. So I told him his hair looked fantastic. I hope it made his day. Then I got to tell a neighbor how much I loved his yard, and how it had grown into itself so well. I'm trying to be more open, and I hope people enjoy it.
