applying the thin layer of yellow warms everything up, marries the colors in a mostly imperceptible way - its basically like taking an image out into the sunlight. something like this is probably built into the AI image generation mechanisms and over time creates a feedback loop.
obviously paintings age over time, but the technique of applying a thin almost completely transparent layer of yellow over an image at the end goes back at least to da vinci, who wrote about doing so in his notebooks. i suspect this is why AI images have βyellowedβ progressively.
