at night i have dark visions of other platonic solids as boxes. icosahedron boxes. triangular prism boxes. has man ever attempted to ship a pyramid shaped cardboard box? have any dared to dream this? would they allow it - the postal workers, law, nature, God himself? i dont know.
michelangelo said he would look at a block of marble, and spiritually feel the sculpture inside - then, the marble would recede under his chisel like water draining from a bath - revealing what was always hidden there. i am doing the opposite process with tape and cardboard boxes
once spent a year making only black and white images. changed how i saw things. saw everything in terms of shadow: areas of darkness. during advent: packing, shipping items, i feel the same way about boxes. i see all things in terms of how they would fit into a box. box psychosis
