the image here is an item called “the modern tree” a design company makes. i saw this once and thought, well - there it is: this is basically like if a christmas tree was indra’s net. just the structure and reflective jewels, 100% visually interdependent with with its environment https://hell.twtr.plus/media/87d996a8fca3f9583c9525dc35f64b33a79c22b00a11acf174cf15fe3e02ee31.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/3b23990064d9ead5b31bdceb44510bad8cb2396d410f6569865f7c84a9905d0e.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/8864e1f6c03cda65efa6e36bba39682794710f4954bfedd839f8ac6cf665b890.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/b0505a711cee6b49fb9803677c8842d9bbdcd25f1ef9ee702a2b2360e36bfedc.file
we had a lot of shiny hyper reflective ornaments growing up. holding one, you could sometimes see the whole tree reflected back in it. in a way this is like the interdependence of the family, or the interlocking nature of the year. changing one thing “reflects” out into the whole https://hell.twtr.plus/media/6cff744183bfa764bca217e0d94b433fef4d081146a25b59209d3a37f2a4190d.file
a common metaphor in buddhism is indras net. theres a net of jewels: each jewel reflects all the other jewels, those reflections have their own reflections in them, and so on. so changing one jewel changes the entire net. something about christmas trees always reminded me of this https://hell.twtr.plus/media/81016a64d152419232c8adbac3733072027a015e76eb31923ab2ebf06bfb427b.file

this is my favorite time of year because i get to take my operation and use it to facilitate a form of family togetherness. definitely did not anticipate that when i started the game at 13 / 14. https://hell.twtr.plus/media/3ab768b58092535fe07b616ca243b487c4d594288f4b2bf996f69126e8bb25b7.file

after using this word for my entire life i just realized: vicious is “vice-ious”, the way virtuous is more obviously “virtue-ous”. something vicious is “of vice” - of morality and disorder. therefore one could properly refer to an alcoholic snake, even if theyre nice, as vicious.

a few people have asked this. we started reading poetry to our kids as soon as they were ready to listen to books (1.5 / 2), but children might get more out of it at 3 - 4, then it could go all the way up to… 6 - 8 or , or whenever, as they’re real poems by canonical authors.
thanks man. drawing is a unique method of communication: its visual - but it can be visual like what your eyes see (what a dog looks like), or “visual” like your mental landscape (i.e. drawing a perfect square, or what you think of when you think of a dog). i try to utilize that.
