schuberts “erlkonig” is the only truly scary music i have ever heard. unsurprisingly, it is german. the germans have a special relationship to darkness. they named their beautiful sprawling forest the black forest. then they looked at a style of ham and also named it black forest

must be very difficult being any kind of pumpkin headed ghostly entity. no calls all spring, summer, then suddenly for two weeks everyone cant get enough of you. where are they in winter? they had enough. just wait in silence for next year. people show their true colors.
