This is the origin of all hacking: the awareness of a systemic linkage between input and output, between cause and effect. Because hacking isnโ€™t just native to computing โ€” it exists wherever rules do. To hack a system requires getting to know its rules better than the people who created it or are running it, and exploiting all the vulnerable distance between how those people had intended the system to work and how it actually works, or could be made to work. In capitalizing on these unintentional uses, hackers arenโ€™t breaking the rules as much as debunking them. - Edward Snowden
"Bauman infers that there was only one change of place, because the malaise of modernity โ€œcame from a kind of security that tolerated too little freedom in the pursuit of individual happinessโ€ whereas in postmodernity the malaise arises from a kind of freedom to seek pleasure that tolerates very little individual security. For, "postmodern men and women have exchanged a share of their possibilities of security for a share of happiness". Therefore, Bauman asserts that individual freedom, in our times, is only a sensation of freedom, that is, a pseudo-freedom, concluding that there is an impossibility of harmony between freedom and security."
