The biggest growing metaphysical problem today: it’s hard to tell what is real and what is generated. Those alive today remember a world before AI. Implicitly, we rely on that when evaluating the verity of information. New generations will not be so lucky. To them, any human history could conceivably have been invented. They won’t be able to believe events of the past let alone current events of their present. I believe this will lead to social detachment and disassociation. It also presents a greater opportunity for authoritarian regimes to reinvent history.
Some system of digital proof of history needs to established. Perhaps the only way is democratic - where individuals can attest whether a certain event truly happened, and inscribe that vote into the bitcoin blockchain. The issue is how to do this without bots rigging the vote. How can a voting system be established where:
1. Each voter is verifiably human
2. Each voter gets only one vote
3. Voters are incentivized to vote in good faith
4. The voting system is decentralized. No gov ID/ biometrics are captured for each voter
