Two and three days ago I visited the old German Boma in Arusha. The silence there feels trained. Not empty — disciplined. Built around 1900 as a German colonial military and administrative post, the Boma still carries the rhythm of routine power. You hear it in your footsteps. You feel it in the walls. Above the gate is a ring. I was told people were executed there — left hanging long enough to be seen. Fear was part of the architecture. They showed me where trash and bodies were burned. And the prison — a hole in the ground, designed to remove people from light and time. What unsettled me most was how intact it still feels. Clean. Orderly. Calm. You can almost smell the daily run of colonial life. Some places shout history. This one whispers — and if you listen, it tells you everything. #history #travel #reflection #memory #walkinghistory #africa #arusha
