In response to the tariff imposed by Trump last week, and the threat of a new 50% tariff set to be imposed tomorrow unless China backs down from its 37% retaliatory tariff, the Chinese Embassy in the U.S. released the following video. It features a speech by Ronald Reagan from the 1980s criticizing the imposition of import tariffs—ironically, the very thing Trump is doing now.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump has now announced that in retaliation to the Chinese retaliatory tariffs of 34% on U.S. goods, the U.S. will now impose an additional tariff of 50% on Chinese goods. China has until tomorrow, April 8, 2025, to rescind the tariffs, or the additional U.S. 50% tariffs will go into effect the next day, April 9, 2025. View quoted note →

President of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen has said that the EU has offered “zero-for-zero” tariffs on industrial goods to the U.S., saying they are “prepared to negotiate.” Should the U.S. be unwilling to negotiate on tariffs, the EU Commission’s president said that “countermeasures” would be employed. Both Ursula von der Leyen and other top EU officials have declined to expand on what said countermeasures would entail outside of the “gradual” implementation of them. However, other nations, most notably Vietnam, have reportedly offered such concessions and were shot down. It should be noted that there is a noticeable lack of synchronization in the messaging coming from Trump administration officials and advisors on what nations need to do to avoid the new tariffs imposed.
All reports of a 90-day tariff pause are fake. Confirmed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“Typical unilateral and protectionist harassment,” declared Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, referring to President Donald Trump's “tariff war.” He also stated that threats and pressure are not the right way to deal with China.

Damage seen to several vehicles within the city of Ashkelon in southern Israel, as a result of a direct impact from a rocket fired earlier from the Gaza Strip by Hamas.
On March 23rd, as Israeli ground forces were advancing on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, they ambushed a clearly-marked convoy of emergency vehicles operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS), including several ambulances and a fire truck. During the attack, 14 paramedics and a U.N. staffer were killed, before Israeli forces buried their bodies as well as the destroyed vehicles in as mass grave near Rafah. Despite the Israel Defense Force attempting to justify the attack in a statement following the incident, by claiming that, “Uncoordinated vehicles were identified advancing suspiciously toward IDF troops without headlights or emergency signals,” video footage recovered from the phone of one of the killed paramedics shows that most if not all of the vehicles were in an organized convoy with their emergency lights on. This is a clear war crime and an investigation needs to be launched immediately by the IDF.
