I've never been unsympathetic to the early architects of Internet standards and protocols who built them without the least heed to security. "Who would ever abuse such an awesome thing?" is adorably idealistic, really. But I have even more sympathy with them as an open-culture advocate staring in horror at generative AI. Can honestly say I did not see this calamity coming.
