Mutinous #librarian, iSchool educator, jack-of-all-trades. She/her. Bergholt Stuttley Johnson designed my notional machine. Save your 20th-century creations if you value them. If it's not printed, it's likely in danger. #retrocomputing #MediaArchaeology #DigitalForensics #DigitalArchives Ethicists are scalpels; I am a buster sword. #ethics #DataEthics #privacy #DataPrivacy #infosec #LibraryPrivacy Former #scholcommer. #ScholarlyCommunication #OpenAccess #nobot #metafilter #nobridge Website: https://dsalo.info/ Personal stuff (must be Mokum member): https://mokum.place/libskrat (you have to be a Mokum member)
Looking for data-rescue efforts that are newbie-friendly. In initial discussions of a possible data-rescue-thon sometime spring semester. Newbie-friendly most likely means: * good workflow documentation * no software installation needed (or at LEAST make it minimal and cross-platform) * automation-friendly, but by-hand work (e.g. dataset metadata) also available * a clear destination for completed work
Remote repository software-developer position at UW-Madison: https://jobs.wisc.edu/jobs/repository-developer-madison-wisconsin-united-states Sharp eyes will note that this is my old stomping grounds, which I left in highish dudgeon. That was fifteen years ago and Things Have Changed. Ask questions if you got 'em. I note they've been doing Very Cool and Interesting Work around digital preservation. Boosts welcome. I'd like to see somebody awesome land this. #getFediHired
So @404 Media has a grant to file a ton of sunshine-law requests over library censorship (any type of library, best I can tell). They've been doing the best library news coverage anywhere. I trust them. Let's help them out. All they want is leads -- whom should they request records from? Contact via Signal at jason.404; email jason@404media.co. (That's @Jason Koebler, but remember Mastodon isn't private.) #libraries #publiclibraries #academiclibraries #censorship
