**UNPOPULAR OPINION** IF we were to hyperbitcoinize and Bitcoin became the only form of serious money, it would be EASIER for governments to exert control and manipulate the system back under the veneer of a decentralized currency. Consider that on the path toward hyperbitcoinization more and more BTC will be held in the hands of cucked elites that if push came to shove would yield to State demands and hard fork the protocol in practically whatever way the State wants. Failure to comply would result in significant loss of value with customer holdings, which would be counter to the fiduciary responsibility of hedge funds. Being such significant holders of BTC, hedge funds would sell off the non-OFAC compliant fork thereby tanking the price of the REAL Bitcoin; only the hardest of Bitcoiners would be able to stomach such a downturn. It is here where other [bleech] cryptos work to distract the old money elite from ever being able to pile exclusively into BTC. The fiat mentality is to "diversify" meaning XRP, ETH, SOL and whatever other shitcoin that promises quirky new features could be a viable investment...they simply dont know any better. And so it is: the shitcoins protect Bitcoin from a State-sanctioned attack since with the hedge funds capital divided, less of it would be solely in Bitcoin. This limits the degree to which hedge funds could drive down the price in such a way to convert people that should know better but simply cant hold onto a coin in freefall.
What do people here think of reappropriating the Twitter Egg and rebranding it a Nostrich Egg? The egg was/is a powerful meme, Twitter's first and one that still burns in the hearts of many. People identified with The Egg as a symbol of freedom to express oneself as one wanted to be heard. Others may have treated it as a badge of being a newcomer to the space; a sign that said, "Hey, I'm new here, and I haven't quite figured out the ropes yet." We all come from Eggs; I'm sure many would relish the opportunity to return to one.
So now with this new wave of users piling in after the Durov takedown, isn’t it about time we were all equipped with unique, human readable, cryptographically secured identities? NIP-05 is great n’all but the censorship can always happen at the ICANN level there. Nymble has bolted BitDNS(ie. Namecoin) onto its Nostr client. Having a global consensus layer on top of Nostr could prove useful for other applications in the near future and it doesn’t mean sacrificing anything in terms of weight; Namecoin is incredibly light.
