You may support this move; however, this is how we start losing liberties. Imagining this being used as impetuous for making use of “self custodial” bitcoin illegal. Just saying we should be very careful when celebrating the methods we use to stop criminal behavior. FinCEN is unelected and without congressional oversight, and has broad authority to issue regulation under the Bank Secrecy Act. They have the power to broaden this to make self-custody illegal to “protect the children and stop terrorism”. Without self custody it’s all just one big CBDC.
