Snow day (more because of the cold) today, so I stayed up an extra hour to watch some TV. I'm paying for it with a headache that is actively trying to split me in half.

Is there a real _reason_ to have date information the URL for a given page? I'm still working out how I want to preserve links moving to the new blog. My slugs are unique, so I'm thinking about just redirecting any old URL to the new slug-based URL and call it a day. At the same time, it isn't hard to handle the date in the string...just not sure how I want to do this.

As the days go on, classes get more and more apathetic with tasks because they're all convinced we're out of school tomorrow. We likely are out of school, but on the off chance we're not, there are going to be some unhappy teenagers.

I had some potato starch heating on the stir plate this morning for a lab to get it to dissolve. I then forgot I had it heating on the stir plate and created a gel rather than a saturated solution. Round 2!

Ok, now THIS is an application of generative AI that is targeted, tailored, and specific to the use. I don't teach math, but there applications I could see for this in the science classroom.

“Discussion Moments” Is Our AI Battery for the Social Classroom

This is one of the best things I have ever worked on.

Today in the classroom: First year chem will have a discussion about "demonstrating understanding" means. They'll do test corrections today, taking time to make sure their answers are complete. Second year chem is doing an iodine clock with sodium bisulfite and sodium iodate. It's a nice multi-step reaction that we can use to determine the initial rate of reaction. #chemistry #teaching :cupofcoffee:
