trying to figure out if there's a way around this psychological black hole that won't send me spiraling into another, bigger and more dangerous black hole

just being even partially aware of the amount of labor and money and other resources involved in maintaining even the bare-minimum of what's necessary for the internet to work is overwhelming, and makes me kinda sad. I want to be able to connect with people without depending on all that. meshnets seem cool and like a possible way to decentralize those costs, but I don't have the technical knowledge to get involved right now. guess I should start learning! nostr is, as always, somehow the best option in regards to what I want out of social technology that I have easy access to yet still not nearly good enough
