#Linux question: Sometimes, I want to use a newer version of an #application than of the version that is provided as a #package in the #repository. When I install a #flatpak with the latest version I get two similar icons for the application. Also, I do not know if the configuration of the package and flatpak version are shared. Or if data could get corrupted when mixing use of both versions. Do you have recommendations or experience regarding this? Should I uninstall the package version?
In the context of #FOSS, #opensource software, I see often the word "alternative". This word gives me a feeling of a second choice after the "real" thing. For example: "Zammand is the open-source alternative for help desks". Maybe it would be better to say something like: "Zammand is the open-source solution for help desks". Or "solution", or "application". What do you think? Do you have other suggestions?
