If you're interested in any part of community organising, and you'll be at @PyCon US US next weekend, you should check out the Community Organizers Summit. As it happens, I'll be the [keynote speaker]( )! Join us in room 317 on Saturday May 17, from 10:30am-1pm to hear from folks sharing their community organising passions, followed by two unconference sessions, the topics for which will be determined by those in attendance. I hope to see you there! #PyConUS #PyConCOS2025 #Community
Hello, all! For various reasons (which I'm happy to elaborate on), I'm writing a blog post on conference sprints, and I'd like your help. I'm aiming this at everyone - folks who might want to attend, but aren't sure what they're getting into, folks who want to get more out of sprints, and folks who want to run their own sprint. I'm looking for answers to the following.

How would you describe development sprints?

If you attend, what do you get out of sprints? What are your goals heading into them? How do you decide what what project to join or what to work on? How long do you usually stay? What about attending sprints has worked for you and what hasn't? What are some examples of positive experiences you've had, and what are some negative ones? Do you have any advice for a first-time participant?

If you've hosted a sprint, how did it go? What went well and what didn't? What would you do the same or differently? What experience level were you aiming for? Do you have any advice for a first-time host?

Answer as little or as much as you'd like, and include anything beyond this you feel is relevant. Feel free to reply here or email me if you would prefer (hello(at)kattni.com). Boosting is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your time!
