He/Him. Retired Oracle DBA, Toad MVP, developer, husband, geek, no kids, open source contributor. McLaren & Mercedes F1 fan. Huawei P20 phone with a Leica camera. I *try* to take at least 1 half decent photo every day. In 2020, Apress published my 1st book, 'Arduino Software Internals'. My 2nd, 'Arduino Interrupts', was published in 2023. 'Arduino Assembly Language' is now with my publishers. Moved back to Scotland from Yorkshire in November 2024. nostr:npub10j8uv9xr0y7dp69f3udf862eqmlm23s58yhz5f3nu5qfr97nxa2qcar43d has left Twitter, forever. Books I've written.: Arduino Software Internals - April 2020. Arduino Interrupts - December 2023. Arduino Software Internals, Second Edition - July 2024. Arduino Assembly Language - Soon to be published. Header ALT Text: A small boatyard on the Crinnan Canal in Scotland. Photo taken by me, on a Huawei P20 phone. Good morning fellow Mastos and hello Monday. The decorators are back! Yesterday's weather warnings were a farce. Yellow ice? There was a thaw! Yellow wind? There was only a breeze! Amber heavy snow? Nothing! It was 7°C all day. Oh, and the heating was fine too. I wonder what joys today will bring? Have a great day folks, have fun, have laughs, take care. Today's photo is from the toilet door of Basil's café on the harbour front at Nairn. Poor Thomas, we know what he had named after him? 😉 image
#WritersCoffeeClub Jan 4: Share a tool of your trade. Latex. I create all my books in Latex. It's only that or MS Word format which are acceptable to my publisher. Given that I've spent many years in various jobs, writing stuff using Word, and having Word trash it for me unasked, there is no way I would use Word ever again! Plus, as a Scotsman who lived in Yorkshire for 30 years, I certainly won't ever pay for it! 😉
For goodness sake! Just went to the local hotel for supper. The place was full of a chess convention with chess players everywhere in Reception telling us all how great they are at chess. Honestly, there's nothing worse than chess nuts boasting in an open foyer.
Hmmm. I just tried logging in on my web browser and it's asking me to use my authenticator app for Two Factor Authorisation. My authenticator app doesn't have an entry for mastodon.scot so I'm stuck. Anyone got any clues? I used the #Tusky app and I don't see anything about TFA in the preferences or account preferences. Any help gratefully received, thanks.
I use #Linux. If I may, a word of advice to fellow #Linux users, fan boys and zealots. When someone toots about problems, or otherwise, in #Windows, unless you have something constructive to add, shut the fsck up about "just install Linux". It makes you look like a dickhead, doesn't solve the problem, and probably gets you blocked. Not everyone has the ability or need to install #Linux. Regardless of how much better it is. End rant!
Good morning fellow Mastos and hello Saturday. MrsD is on doggy duties today for a couple of hours, as I'm off on a "Geology of Portsoy" walk this morning. I'm not an actual geologist, nor do I play one on TV, but I do find rocks and such like interesting at times. Have a great Saturday whatever you are doing today. Have fun, take care. Laugh a lot. Today's photo is from the Keith Show last week. Its the steam engine powering the old wooden grain thresher off to the right. image
Good morning fellow Mastos and hello Friday. It has been a windy night but not much hammering rain. (So far!) Must be summer! We went to Inverness yesterday, so MrsD could get some shopping done. I got socks, must be Christmas! 😉 Today will hopefully be quiet, but I doubt it. Enjoy your day, whatever it is you are doing. Have fun, take care. Today's photo is another flowery one from the Butchart Gardens, Purple Dalmatian Foxgloves. #BloomScrolling #Foxgloves image
