Kind words from @npub13dlk...l6n5 in the most recent JavaScript Weekly (*). Thanks Peter! My CSS blog post: (*) image
Using Cloudflare for static file hosting: • Cloudflare Pages is easy to use but forwards requests from /home.html to /home (which I don’t want because it changes existing URLs) • Solution: Switch to Workers where forwarding can be switched off. • New problem: / isn’t forwarded to /index.html anymore. Not sure how to fix that yet. • A % in a filename caused an error with an obscure message and prevented deployment. I may not be their target audience. I just want simple static file hosting.
Render took my sites offline, due to an increase in traffic (not humans, probably LLMs). I’d upgrade to their paid plan but I can’t set a spending limit – which find too risky. I’ll probably migrate to Cloudflare Pages.
Some authors denigrate ideas they don’t like: “Doing [thing I don’t agree with] is like using leeches to cure diseases.” That makes them sound narrow-minded and wastes the time of the readers.
#Mastodon wish: In search results, show when an account was last active (a tiny activity graph would also be nice). There are now quite a few accounts who haven’t posted anything in 2025.
Much material on economics (e.g. how money is created) I’ve come across doesn’t explain well how things actually work. Any recommendations?
YouTube web app, “save to playlist” menu: Instead of checkboxes, there are now icon buttons (one click and menu disappears). That means I now have to go to the menu twice for two frequent actions of mine: • Adding a video to more than one playlist • Removing and re-adding a video to move it to the beginning of a playlist Additionally, the background remains clickable when the menu is open—which makes dismissing it harder and is unlike all GUIs I have ever used.
