Continuity Camera (=iPhone as camera for Mac)—I did some experiments and it only seems to work if I do this: 1. iPhone is unlocked. 2. iPhone falls asleep. 3. Some time passes. 4. CC is activated. I was not able to skip step 1 and 2 (= to start with a locked iPhone). I could reconnect after disconnecting by switching CC off and on in the settings.
One area where cell phones could still actually innovate is support for mesh networks: • Allow people to communicate locally whenever there is no cell phone reception (during outages, in remote areas, in overcrowded areas) • Bonus: support for peer-to-peer synchronization of data (files, contacts, notes, etc.)—e.g., between a laptop and a cellphone.
It’s interesting to see the evolution of YouTube’s dialog for adding videos to playlists (iPhone app): • First: checkboxes. • Second: bookmark items. They work like checkboxes but the dialog disappears immediately when you click. Thus: harder to move things to the beginning of a playlist (by removing & adding again) and harder to add a video to multiple playlists. • Third: dialog remains open when unchecking but still closes immediately when checking.
