In our latest AI testing, the leading chatbots were pretty decent at detecting and debunking known misinformation about fake ballots, broken voting machines and other election lies. With one notable – and surprising – exception: ChatGPT. OpenAI announced on its blog last month that it would protect against lies about the vote count starting on Nov. 5. But in our testing on Nov. 4 and 5, we did not see evidence that the company was following through.
