in the 2010s musicians, shows, anything, would often just present as high concept or deep. if you do this now you have to trojan horse it entirely. huge difference between the decades.
its no longer cool or acceptable to enjoy things that are trying to be smart or pitching themselves as intelligent. you can notice this when looking backwards: it used to be the opposite. until recently a lot of music, shows, media unabashedly was “trying to be smart”.
perhaps i am simply a small town fool, imagining the library would focus on the normal kind of literacy, the one about books. perhaps the full inversion of the world has been completed, and book literacy with classic story time can now be found at the bank.
there seemed to be a brief discussion about financial literacy, using denominations of coins and bills to illustrate numbers. given the average age of the group i suspect their financial literacy level was somewhere around "do not eat quarters".
i was at "the library" with a kid. they told me they were doing "story time". i went into a room where they were showing a sesame street video about numbers. i am now putting "story time" and "library" in quotes because apparently i do not know what these words mean.
one time a guy picked me up to drive somewhere. religion came up. he said he was gnostic. i got kind of excited as odd esoteric niche beliefs are kind of my whole thing. so i’m asking him all these questions and after like 45 minutes he says “actually i think its called agnostic”
