my manager said to get all the christmas rerun energy out before we release the book, so that may be what we’re working with for the next 24 hours. it looks great, we’re just waiting for the green light. some of the first images in a thread here: https://hell.twtr.plus/media/ee67ead7e6f5d243534dd670fa36374d5b5575784cda53018e9c641a4b4edd0b.file

every year when setting up the christmas tree i think about a dad that lived up the street from us as kids who would choose one color every year: green, blue, red, and all the lights and every ornament on his tree had to be that color. what does this say about a man. fascinating.
will you come see my band https://hell.twtr.plus/media/87b99d29c181e6cd30170d4bf15bce51a65ab995416ce759f08c76343c6448cc.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/f85ada74aec4b2f5bda11e992dc2f17aa26401476e9d848cabc11c7d4a3cdcab.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/aeea0913ed6ff92140231e0766ed2d5b348ebcb4284eabc0c57b8c2eb257cc4c.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/edc1b03a04f3aedae4c6049edab81d4d91b84d23ff963d13ae14404f40718e96.file
funny that everyone intuitively understands this term: 'early core memories'. one of my own in the book department was called 'monster motel'. got this when i was around 7. interesting as it made a huge impression on me at the time, and now i do something not totally dissimilar. https://hell.twtr.plus/media/6456aa2a7ee2d97960a9e3ee0cd6953d41615334fbeb12de8abf88f1fa53c941.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/829641bf31ca0c5a48e70e184503f9d314c2684f5cb67dc3645a51307b1ec519.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/c8cb2b37b6468f64402d31d9190023bec14ef7ffd5c6c5dc1e6a2c934dcaf500.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/549428206c4b8815d2f4d8aec5fbc8ecda96c9967a8e860ee36a5b91fcacfadc.file

RT @kalinh@twitter.com: I will pre-order any book Owen puts out, and this new anthology, “introducing the linguistic and literary heritage of english language rhyme and poetry to children” looks incredible. https://hell.twtr.plus/media/ee67ead7e6f5d243534dd670fa36374d5b5575784cda53018e9c641a4b4edd0b.file
the guy who wrote this poem, isaac watts, is one of the earliest authors i included (born 1600s). he was also a theologian. here’s another poem of his i liked a lot but didn’t use (keep in mind it’s the 1700s, so these letters that look like Fs to us are a stylized printed S): https://hell.twtr.plus/media/5add806c387129ac35970cf1176abe5221890dbad3a4efde52aab282a501ebab.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/75182be11c2cf304456051fc71dcb9ec61b243a035c0086cb72fcdbc6e002340.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/ee67ead7e6f5d243534dd670fa36374d5b5575784cda53018e9c641a4b4edd0b.file
