RT @zslayback@twitter.com: Saw the @owen cyclops liturgical cycle poster IRL for the first time this weekend at a friend's birthday party. It's even more impressive up-close. https://hell.twtr.plus/media/194a0ec2a3d36fda0044361dd928047ac103704cf0757f93f7e56cc64f51b511.file
theres an aspect of creativity i've come to call metacreativity: when your creativity spills out onto others and makes them creative. it's a secondary effect. a kind of imagination blast radius. guess as a tiny kid i got caught in this guys you never know what your work will do https://hell.twtr.plus/media/a9d853691553e884f4d1cd5897e07c36ae8732b4862785832182d8e6c8e55a2c.file
its odd to encounter these seminal memories later. it's really all here: on one episode, they showed the "real" physical studio - instead of the imagined CGI one he inhabited on the show. i literally do this today, right now. im in a real studio, which i often create images of.
this is one of my first 'drawing' memories. clearly i still remember it, and since then have devoted tens of thousands of hours to drawing - not even painting, just using lines to convey information. this may be the first time i really saw that. no one i knew in real life drew. https://hell.twtr.plus/media/2269073ed9a67808f95e81dc3d620a65f8a277f11dfd89349739ab8c2a2abc5e.file
when i was extremely small, i saw a show called 'imagination station' on PBS. it had this guy drawing, and his little art 'tricks' (drawing a hole, simple things) completely blew my mind. apparently it was so obscure they only aired a few episodes outside california public TV: https://hell.twtr.plus/media/cbf3be28315161b2a4f8e4219c0be6adb0277513aa92e00c9734a01385fc0654.file https://hell.twtr.plus/media/de74427e5b55d14809b77243165b7da13343a93e4aa60ee53f8072e87aac18d0.file
they just reject the package. they dont keep it. but once every few months, they come home, and theyre like: oh, that guys diapers are at my house again. i am that guy. i am a real character in his universe. yet, this is all i will ever be to him: a man, as a package of diapers.
i cant correct the address. its already correct. the postal workers just do it automatically. this doesnt bother me at all. however, now i have a type of relationship with the person that lives at this address. possibly: a completely unique relationship. i exist in their life.
my address exists, exactly, but in another state. i order diapers. they ship from that state. occasionally, they deliver the diapers to this parallel address. its just postal workers going on autopilot. there is nothing i can do about this. this has been going on for years. …
