Based on this situation, what backup solution would you recommend to protect data on Windows computers used by small businesses (no IT department) ? OneDrive is not backup, if the data is only stored on OneDrive. Microsoft's default policy defies the common sense recommendation to have data stored in more than one place. Recently, I have had several customers that needed data recovery a major problem with Windows (broken hardware, unboot-able Windows OS, malware infection). Turns out that their data wasn't on their computer at all. I had to help them log into OneDrive to retrieve their data. They had no idea that it was only on Microsoft's storage service and not on their own computer storage. This is also happening to people still using Windows 10.
