As an environmentalist, I'm really glad Carney is dropping the 2-Billion trees target.
Years ago, I saw how targets like these get trees planted in the wrong place, without the aftercare they need and using species or stock tat are not of local provenance. The result? Natural regeneration suppressed, and habitats harmed at tax payer expense.
You try and plant 2-Billion trees and the bulk of that effort will not deliver the intended benefit.
