Library/archives peeps:
It is likely (not guaranteed, but likely) that we will have an opening for a metadata instructor this coming fall, asynchronous online.
If you are or know somebody who'd be interested, let me know!
A metadata student who struggled some in the front half of the class turned in THE BEST piece of documentation.
Sometimes the struggle actually helps!
Looking for data-rescue efforts that are newbie-friendly. In initial discussions of a possible data-rescue-thon sometime spring semester.
Newbie-friendly most likely means:
* good workflow documentation
* no software installation needed (or at LEAST make it minimal and cross-platform)
* automation-friendly, but by-hand work (e.g. dataset metadata) also available
* a clear destination for completed work

Sharp eyes will note that this is my old stomping grounds, which I left in highish dudgeon. That was fifteen years ago and Things Have Changed. Ask questions if you got 'em.
I note they've been doing Very Cool and Interesting Work around digital preservation.
Boosts welcome. I'd like to see somebody awesome land this.
