To answer that I think you have to look at the bigger conversation, and that is that nostr needs to be hospitable to content creators. Creators need to WANT to post content and be consistently active here. Why? Because content, more specifically active content creators, naturally spurs more user activity and engagement through post engagement, live streaming activity, etc, and if those creators enjoy it here they are naturally going to talk about it on their other platforms, leads to more users signing up and more creators wanting to use nostr.
Nostr is not an advertising platform, though, so the incentives for creators to be active here look different than the incentives on other platforms such as X. Primarily, the incentives here have come through zaps. But incentives don’t have to be limited to that. Businesses on Nostr have sponsored contests, such as Rigly with their mining services. Recently we see Soapbox sponsoring influencers to push their Shakespeare product to drive more customers to use it. Ultimately though, the most consequential incentives comes from peer-to-peer zaps, because that encourages authenticity and genuine human interactions, which is one of the biggest things that sets nostr apart from traditional ad-driven social media.
The responsibility goes both ways. Creators that are here need to be dedicated to consistent content and activity. Users need to step up their game and make those creators feel appreciated through meaningful zaps.
