Here's a short animated video HRF produced about the connection between freedom and vibe coding
TLDR: an incredibly powerful tool that shakes up the common trope that AI is putting us exclusively on a path to inescapable digital control

I predict Ai will produce more good than bad

“As backlash against AI data centers over their electricity and water use is growing worldwide, their public health impact is also receiving heightened attention. Some state agencies have begun conducting health impact assessments of data centers’ on-site diesel generators to inform emission limits, and residents near a large AI data center in Memphis, Tennessee, have raised strong concerns about air pollution and health risks—concerns that have reached national headlines.”

Mitigating the Public Health Impacts of AI Data Centers
The rapid growth of AI isn’t just a power challenge—it’s also impacting public health with an annual cost of up to $20 billion in the U.S. by...
Just like Bitcoin mining, there will be data centers that use fossil fuels and those who don’t.
I’ve heard that about bitcoin mining. The question is, does bitcoin mining also produce PM2.5, described in the article as extremely bad for health (“non-threshold”, no safe level).
Also, I think with large bitcoin mining sites, it’s a lot more possible to use ‘stranded energy’ or depending on the country, geothermal sources.

The mining machines themselves don’t produce anything except heat. Emissions depends on the source of electricity. The trend over the years has been towards more green sources.
so I googled it, and found that bitcoin mining does also produce PM 2.5, like AI data centers.
75.4% of bitcoin mines are in the U.S.
52.4% of energy used in 2024 to mine Bitcoin was sustainable (hydropower, wind, nuclear energy)
so 47.6% of energy used in 2024 to mine Bitcoin created pollution.
Which is still a lot.
Bitcoin mining doesn’t produce pm 2.5, just like how your refrigerator doesn’t produce it, or your washing machine.
Look up Daniel Batten. He’s doing a lot of work debunking environmentalists
