Very dope! Happy to see a client showing reputable followers, not just βfollowersβ
Finally fixing the @npub1qjtn...z44v problem!
Well... It doesn't make sense, the demo just said: this is a magic number but it looks about right.
The whole idea is that there is no black box magic, but a marketplace of open-source algorithms and agents instead. The documentation explains it well.

What is Vertex?

It is an *arbitrary* number. It could be slightly different if we used different parameters in our crawler, which btw is open source so one could run its own with different settings.
you've been officially promoted to Vertex chief of marketing π₯ π
That is fantastic! Thank you for building ππ§‘π«
How is primal so off? Is it because theyβre not using WoT? Just trying to understand the underlying mechanisms. Great work!
That last point on our current smolness :clapping:
no one is using nostr, YET
Definitely a necessary piece in Nostr's puzzle, bravo!
Great idea to show reputable followers!
Questions:
1. How do you determine if a follower is reputable? I presume it's based on WoT, but the question is, how exactly does somebody make the cut of being reputable?
2. How many real humans do you think you are missing in your reputable follower counts? For example, if somebody creates a new Nostr account today and follows you, they probably won't get included in the count, right? Do you have estimates on how many real users you are missing?
These are important topics; keep up the good work!
Hey, thanks miljian!
For context I'll add here a response I just wrote. It's a bit convoluted I know, I should probably make a video explainer.

No idea tbh, but these users haven't gained a single reputable follower, which probably means they haven't posted anything / met anyone in meatspace that is already on Nostr.
One can find these people by their npubs, but not using the search DVM. This is a very opinionated decision that I think will make more and more sense in the future: I choose to crawl what people find interesting/valuable. and nothing else.
Thanks for the explanation.
My guess is that these reputable follower counts filter out *a lot* of real users. Remember, most people online are lurkers and don't post much content if any. Therefore they are not likely to be followed by reputable users.
I am not sure, because they only need one follows. People that are on nostr now are the early adopters, which means the ratio active / lurkers is different from the norm. Also, lurkers tend to have at least one follows, I think. Maybe I am wrong.
