LMAO the drama today
Man this debate has been going for 2 years π The only positive result is the memes that came out of it
It reared its head again this morning π Great for meme fodder π€£
I've been on nostr for years (mostly Amethyst) and literally never heard this take.
Memes is how we cope ππ«
The Damus dev and his simps like to spread fud about Primal. Been going on for a while.
you mean it's been settled for two years.
What is being said that isnβt true? Caching servers break functionality. Primal blocks content. Primal goes down when the rest of the network doesnβt.
It isnβt FUD if itβs true.
That Primal is a better nostr client than Damus? Yes.
its really simple and not that contentious: Primal connects to their own "caching" server that does some mysterious filtering/hiding, image-swapping and mysterious post-ordering (promotion of content), rather than reading directly from relays. yes, you CAN supply your own caching server, if you happen to run one or know someone who does. but you CANNOT (yet) simply instruct Primal not to do this and read directly from relays.
Odell has explained as much, though he makes it sound less nefarious than I am here (which tells you how each of us feel about this "feature"). whether you see this as a good or bad thing is a matter of subjective taste, but the facts are the facts.
there is no argument, just preferences.

no I meant this:

Yep. Itβs all true. Yet the only thing Primal people do is name call and yell FUD. But itβs all happing so it literally isnβt FUD. I donβt fucking get it. such BS.
Yes? Still waiting.
Because they canβt deny itβs happening. They just scream FUD and mud sling. They refuse to have a discussion.
Sir thatβs way too analytical for an internet fight π
No. I simply donβt care about your opinion. Iβm making fun of you and you guys keep falling for it every time.
I'll take that as a "yes, this accurate" thanks
I didnβt even read it
Jokes on you. Youβre the one living in denial. Iβm not the one failing for thinking primal is actually doing something good by break core functionality and deceiving its users.
I appreciate the concise explanation.
I've been using primal for a while and never truly understood the centralization criticisms.
I think Primal provides a great UX and I'm OK with the mystery cache server (for my use case).
A competitive UX often requires some degree of centralization.
Everything is a tradeoff.
fwiw Iβm a happy user of both Damus and Primal π€·ββοΈ
did someone here connect their own cache server to find out what things are stored there?
Yep exactly. π@npub1q6mc...x7d5 said occasionally opening Primal is like visiting "Downtown Nostr", but he typically prefers to be out in the country and villages. I really liked that characterization.
Effects of a deflationary currency. => you have time to debate about such things. π§
Sounds dangerous. π
this is news to me. ty
Who are these two sheilas?
