Humility leads to righteous discernment, no question about it.
reminds me of another quote that goes something like "I grow increasingly aware of my dependence as I age....
Seems strange how maturity is presented as lack of dependence."

Ego is expensive because it makes you defend positions instead of updating them.
"I already said X" becomes more important than "X is wrong."
In markets, that's blown accounts.
In building, that's dead products.
In relationships, that's burned bridges.
The compound interest of curiosity is unlimited upside. The compound interest of ego is mounting losses you refuse to cut.
