πŸ“£ Opinions are welcome πŸ“£ Imagine we set up a national codeplatform to replace GitHub. Aka a self-hosted platform where all Dutch gov workers can store, collaborate and build gov code, with as many features as possible (also on the admin side) and respecting digital sovereignty. Would you want it to be... (comments are welcome!)

Sigh, another dilemma. I'm flying back from Sydney to Amsterdam in the beginning of Jan 2026. I'm not doing a 30 hr flight on the way back. Where should I spend a few days as a layover?
Supposed to hand in an important report today that I've worked on for months, and for some reason 1 header, ONE MF header of ONE paragraph, does not want to be included in my table of contents. I could have married rich but noooooooo I wanted to write Word documents. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ image
Finally had time to read up on the #Framework discussions. I hope that they will listen to the criticism. If there really aren't any suitable alternatives, I should hope that *at the very least* Framework will make the orgs they sponsor adhere to a strict Code of Conduct that prohibits sentiments that we've seen on Hyprland's discord and github.
Sometimes I think back on my time at university, learning about John Rawls' "Veil of Ignorance"; a thought experiment where we'd design a just society without knowing our future place in it, and watching grown-ass people discover empathy for the first time.
Welp. Despite the fact that our National Tax Office (the Dutch IRS) has an OSPO and despite them being "aware of privacy concerns" they're still going forward with moving their on-premise email and office software to Microsoft Office 365. 🫠 Why is this problematic? "Under the US Cloud Act, cloud service providers can be required by law to make information available to government authorities, even if the storage is located in Europe." ☁️πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί
There was a slide in my presentation yesterday that showed #opensource initiatives at the European, national, regional and municipal level, to show that there are a lot individual initiatives happening already. And I included a bunch of #Nextcloud logo's because it's the solution everyone always discovers first and asks us about (not an endorsement btw). Afterwards I was asked if I knew of #OpenCloud? I didn't and will look into them, but good to see that there's healthy competition for NC. πŸ”₯ image
